Bill Emmott, the former editor-in-chief of The Economist, has joined multi family office Fleming Family & Partners, taking on the role of group economic adviser.

In a statement released on 21 September, the international wealth manager said Emmott will provide macro-economic analysis and contribute to the group’s investment strategy reviews, as well as speaking at FF&P events.

Emmott, who is currently a member of the Swiss Re chairman's advisory board and the president’s council of Tokyo University, held the top editorial role at The Economist between 1993 and 2006.

He is currently a columnist for The Times in London and Italy's La Stampa and has published several books about Japan, Asia and emerging markets. His latest book, Forza Italia, looks at the future of Italy after Berlusconi.

His international experience should prove beneficial for FF&P clients, said Mark Davies, group chief executive of the family office.
